Marine Drive

Marine Drive is a buzzing waterfront district known for the Marine Walkway, popular for evening strolls, and leafy Subhash Bose Park. The modern Rainbow and Kettuvallam bridges offer backwater views, and cruises leave from jetties by the water. Affluent homes and offices fill the area, and shops along Broadway sell jewelry, spices, and local fabrics. Dining ranges from upscale hotel restaurants to no-frills cafes.

Willington Island

Willington Island was created by the visionary harbour engineer, Sir Robert Bristow, who foresaw the possibility of creating a man-made island while deepening the Kochi harbour. In 1928, during the modernization of the harbour under Bristow’s supervision, the mud and materials dredged out was used to create an island. .

Kerala High Court

The High Court of Kerala is the highest court in the Indian state of Kerala and the Union territory of Lakshadweep. It is located in Kochi. Drawing its powers under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, the High Court has the power to issue directions, orders and writs including the writs of habeas corpus, mandamus, prohibition, quo warranto and certiorari for ensuring the enforcement of the Fundamental Rights guaranteed by the Constitution to citizens or for other specified purposes.

Bolgatty Palace

One of the oldest Dutch palaces existing outside Holland, Bolgatty Palace at Bolgatty Island in Ernakulam district was built by the Dutch in 1744, and later taken over by the British. Now the palace is a premium hotel run by the KTDC with a small golf course and special honeymoon cottages. The destination is ideal to enjoy spectacular sunsets, balmy backwaters and luscious seafood.

Jewish Synagogue

The Jewish synagogue was built in 1568, almost 1500 years after the beginning of the Jewish connection with Kerala. It was built on the land, adjacent to the Mattancherry Palace, given by the erstwhile king of Cochin. The synagogue, the oldest in the Commonwealth, was built by the Jewish community of Cochin. In 1662, it was destroyed by the Portguese and then reconstructed, two years later, by the Dutch.

Vypin Harbour

Vypin (Cochin Portuguese: Isla Santa) is one of the group of islands that form part of the city of Kochi (Cochin), in the Indian state of Kerala. Vypin forms a barrier island which lies between the Arabian Sea in the west and the Cochin backwaters formed by the various distributaries of Periyar river, in the east. The northernmost end of the island lies on the estuary of the Periyar river in Muziris (Kodungallur), and the southernmost end in the mouth of the Cochin Backwaters in Kalamukku near Fort Vypin.

Tripunithura palace

Hill Palace is an archaeological museum and palace located in the Tripunithura neighbourhood of Kochi, Kerala, India. It is the largest archeological museum in the state and was the imperial administrative office and official residence of the Cochin Maharaja.Built in 1865, the palace complex consists of 49 buildings spreading across 54 acres and built in the traditional architectural style. The complex has an archaeological museum, a heritage museum, a deer park, a pre-historic park and a children’s park.[

Mangalavanam bird sanctuary

Mangalavanam is an ecologically sensitive area situated at the centre of the Indian city of Kochi, covering about 2.74 hectares.It also houses a shallow tidal lake connected with Kochi backwaters by a canal. It is situated behind the Kerala High Court building. It is a nesting ground for a large variety of migratory birds and supports many types of mangroves. The Managalavanam is often regarded as the “green lung of Kochi”,considering its role in keeping the city’s air pollution under check.

Kochin shipyard

Cochin Shipyard was incorporated in 1972 as a Government of India company, with the first phase of facilities coming online in 1982. In August 2012, the Government of India announced plans of divestment to raise capital of Rs. 15 billion for further expansion through an initial public offering (IPO) towards the end of the fiscal year. The government finalised the decision of stake sale on 18 November 2015. 33.9 million shares will be sold, out of which the government is holding 113,000 shares while the others are fresh equity.

Kochin Water Metro

Kochi, often referred as the commercial capital of Kerala, is one of the most densely populated district in the state of Kerala. The project is expected to reduce pollution and traffic congestions in the city and also ease access to business areas on the mainland for urban households situated along the Kochi lakeshore. The Kochi water metro project envisages the development of 15 identified routes, connecting 10 islands along a network of routes that span 78 km with a fleet of 78 fast, electrically propelled hybrid ferries plying to 38 jetties.

The Kochi Metro is a rapid transit system serving the city of Kochi in Kerala, India. It was opened to the public within four years of starting construction, making it one of the fastest completed metro projects in India.The Kochi metro project is the first metro in the country which connects rail, road and water transport facilities.The first phase is being set up at an estimated cost of ₹51.81 billion (US$650 million).In October 2017, Kochi Metro was named the Best Urban Mobility Project in India by the Urban Development Ministry, as part of the Urban Mobility India (UMI) international conference hosted by the ministry every year.[

Puthuvype Beach

Puthuvype is a part of Vypin Island. It borders Vembanad Lake to the East, Arabian Sea to the West and South and Njarakkal to the North. The main thoroughfares in the area are Vypin-Munambam Road and LNG Terminal Road. It is one of the important place in Vypin Island. Puthuvype is well known for Puthuvype Light house beach.

Edappilly Church

The church has a 14-century history. Its perennial well attracted many people, and the church became a pilgrimage site. According to historians, Thomas the Apostle (Mar Thoma Sleeha in Malayalam/Syriac) built seven churches. The Edapally church was built during the sixth century, shortly after the construction of the seven churches.

Chottanikkara temple

The Chottanikkara (correction of Jyotiannakkara) Devi Temple is a temple dedicated to the Hindu mother goddess Bhagavati. She is believed to be residing in Chottanikkara (Mahalakshmi) along with her Husband Maha Vishnu. The main deity is also considered as Lakshmi Narayana according to the temple legend. The temple is Classified one among the 108 Abhimana Kshethram of Vaishnavate tradition.

Fort Kochi

A charming seaside area, Fort Kochi is known for its Dutch, Portuguese, and British colonial architecture, and elaborate bamboo fishing nets at Fort Kochi Beach. St. Francis Church was the original burial site of explorer Vasco da Gama. Upscale eateries and chic cafes serve Keralan specialties, and quaint shops sell cotton clothing and handmade souvenirs.

Naval Base

It has its Headquarters in Kochi, Kerala at INS Venduruthy, and is commanded by the Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief. The Southern Naval Command is the Training Command of Indian Navy and is responsible for the training of all its personnel, both officers as well as sailors, from basic to advance stages.
